Tuscan Castello

A great renaissance

ITALY

This marvellous place was almost entirely derelict when I was first invited to see it. My patron remembered it from his childhood and as we walked through his words brought back the quiet beauty that had once existed. Overgrown holm oaks had once been box headed, a tiny chapel had once been in use. The herb garden now completely dilapidated, and the ancient stone walled olive terraces collapsed. An important house yet never a smart house we agreed it needed the gentlest of restorations, sympathetic and understanding. Using local materials and underpinned by a lot of historic research we have arrived at a new era.
