We were invited to create a new visitor attraction for Waddesdon Manor on the site of the area of magnificent old glasshouses known as Paradise. The original Paradise was at the cutting edge of horticultural prowess in England. Guests were taken through it in little carriages drawn by zebras. Our interpretation has order beds, a gallery and exhibition space, a series of artisan workshops and shops, a Botanic Garden, a farmers market. At the heart of the scheme is a new architectural glasshouse restaurant we call The Cherry House. The aim of the whole experience is to show the Rothschild’s cutting edge interest in farming, horticulture, culture, science and the arts.
