The garden was constructed from in-situ concrete, glass and limestone. The Italian architect, Carlo Scarpa, and his fascination for materials have always influenced me. In this garden the in-situ concrete loses its uncompromising quality and becomes softened by the rich colours of the planting. Over the years we have added some vertical Yew columns and the rest of the garden has evolved beautifully. Eldridge Smerin Architects altered this house to an extremely high standard.
