This started ordinarily enough as a landscape project and potentially the restoration of a woodman's cottage. When I saw the place it suddenly became something else. I had never seen such poetic decay or perfectly undisturbed vernacular building. Charlie Hopkinson and I agreed it must be a black and white film shoot. Subsequently, inspired by my collection of books created between the wars by the publisher Harry Batsford I designed and made a two volume art book. A limited edition of fifteen. Amongst others one is in the British library and the library of HRH The Prince of Wales.
